Flora and Fun

{Spending Time At Other People's Gardens}

Grrrr, I am really going to make a concerted effort to blog regularly! Need to work on that (obviously, 8 months between posts is anything but consistant...). That aside, Colorado really has been keeping me surprisingly busy lately, what with moving and studying and this new job. But mostly because it is absolutely beautiful outside right now; everything's blooming!

Dad and I both had the day off today so we stopped by the iris garden between errands. It's the weirdest thing: you drive down Federal, turn into a pretty low-budget neighborhood, and then all of a sudden there's a yard with tons and tons and tons of iris! Right in the middle of all these houses. And they are all blooming right now! And we somehow managed to get out of there without taking any home. But we did get tons of pictures (And, I suspect, maybe a little bit of heat stroke. It was hella HOT out there).

{All lined up!}

{Ha! [Insert Batman voice here]}

{One of my favorites (and I can't remember his name! Grr! It was obviously fabulous, though!)}

And, how lucky is Denver to have such an amazing botanic garden? My parents have had a membership for years and I was lucky enough to get my hands on my mom's card the other day so now I can go whenever my heart desires! The last two times I've gone we've packed a picnic and spent most of the day there, wandering, and eating, and wandering some more. It's a sunburn waiting to happen, but otherwise glorious.

{The Japanese garden}

{These peonies were HUGGGGE. The perfect bee buffet!}

Although, on this last visit we didn't see any orchids! Their old room has been turned into some sort of art gallery and there were none on the gigantic tropical tree! They are doing some major renovations so maybe they'll end up with a bigger and better room?? I'm not too bummed about missing them there, though, because my own orchids are lookin' pretty darn awesome. All but one of my phalaenopsis have bloom spikes (this is mind blowing, folks!)!!! It's amazing what plants can do when they aren't being hassled by nosy kitties...
